New pipework is strength tested first to prove the joints, then tightness tested to IGEM/UP/1. It is purged of air, directly on smaller systems and with nitrogen on larger ones, before the burner is commissioned and its settings recorded.

At handover you receive the test record, the purge record and the commissioning sheet, which is what an insurer, a customer audit or a landlord will ask to see.

Heating Units at Parkway, Holbrook and Chapeltown

The main is surveyed first to confirm its material, wall thickness and condition. The fitting is attached, the tap is cut under pressure through a valve, and the new branch is tested and purged before it carries gas to the plant.
